Snorkeling in Catalina

Wednesday Wyatt and Shelby went to Catalina for the first time on a snorkeling trip with their Shore Swim Team. We had an amazing time! The kids saw dolphins, seals, sea lions, Girabaldi fish, and sharks! Coach Kristin was snorkeling with Shelby and one of her friends when two smaller sharks swam under them! Luckily Shelby did not see them, but Wyatt said he did. Another amazing site on Catalina were bald eagles. At one point a bald eagle flew right over us to grab a fish out of the ocean and it was an awesome and beautiful sight! We also brought home tons of beautiful shells! Another bonus to the trip - not one of the kids (or adults) on the boat got seasick!

JUMP!

I can't believe people build pools without diving boards!
Everyone was jumping this summer - and no water wings!

Attention all Grandparents:

Get one of these! Everyone loves riding it! Shelby's first words after her first ride with Papa, "OMG!" It brings smiles to ages 14 to 1 (and a few fights over who gets the next ride). It has to be the best purchase Papa ever made!

Cousins!

One of the bounties of Utah - cousins!
Shelby & Chandler are the best of friends!
Brynley is the cutest 1 year old ever!
Kelly & Luke are birds of a feather!
Wyatt & Jake are guitar hero masters!
Alex, Rylee & Gavin are great swim buddies!
We also got to see Peyton and Keegan, but no pictures!

Brotherly Love

When Shelby found out on Monday morning that Wyatt did not have JGs anymore she immediately wanted him to go to PreSchool with her. After I got permission from the school (and talked Wyatt into the idea) Wyatt went to Belmont Heights Church Preschool for the day on Wednesday. Shelby was so excited to have her brother with her at school. I think Wyatt was the "Big Man" on campus for the day. When I picked him up various little boys kept running over to him and asking him to play in the sandbox or ride scooters with them. Wyatt also helped Shelby's teacher, Miss Lizzy, get her pictures onto her computer during the day. He also got to be in charge of the hose and spray anyone who needed to cool off.
Wyatt wants to go back again next week. He has plans to paint the Weezer Symbol next time he does easel painting. Shelby was over the moon and can't wait for him to come back.

Isn't he a nice big brother!

The Beginning of the End

Friday was the last day of Junior Guards for the summer and also the first day of August, which means it is the beginning of the end of summer. It makes me so sad.
I always get anxious this time of year - we have not had enough fun yet, and I feel the pressure to make every last moment of summer count. Of course, I usually do not suceed at making every moment count, but I do feel the pressure.

So the JG bike racks have been filled for the last time this summer and the boogie boards are packed up in the shed.

I had to drag Wyatt out of the water the last day of guards.
He really enjoyed his first year of JGs.

I had Wyatt make a list of what he wanted to do before summer ends. His list included another visit to Powells Candy Store (did that yesterday), boating in Utah with Reed, going to Cambers house for a visit by himself, hiking to the Y, going to Seven Peaks, and rock climbing. Anyone interested in joining us in Wyatt's summertime fun let us know!

No pictures of Kelly, because he makes rude comments about how annoying I am if I get anywhere near him - 15 years from now he will wish he let me document his life as a tween.

JG Parents Day

Friday was parents day at Junior Guards.
Kevin went as Wyatt's parent - but I was surprised that Wyatt wanted me to go too. Fortunately/unfortunately I had to work at Lyon on Friday.
I'm not too sure if I would have been able to jump off the pier and do high speed boat drops like Kevin and Wyatt.
Kevin is a much more impressive parent at lifeguarding skills.
The guards had a run-swim-run competition.
Kevin was the first parent to cross the finish line.
Wyatt was the last junior guard to cross the finish line.
Not sure what that says??

The day closed with some capture the flag action.

Tour de Mammoth

On Saturday we took a Tour de Mammoth
Shelby even had her own mountain bike powered by Daddy!

We were off-roading and your booty felt every rock.
Wyatt went fast on the downhills - he has a major need for speed.

Shelby held on tight!
I tried to keep up.

After off-roading, the tour took a stop at the condo Kevin's family owned when he was a boy.

Then we stopped for a late breakfast. We need some nourishment for the uphill ride back to our house! The polka-dot jersey went to Kevin. He was the king of the hills, even when pulling an extra sixty pounds of Shelby & her bike.

The white jersey for the best young rider went to Wyatt.
That boy is fast on the downhill and strong on the climbs.

We also watched a lot of the Tour de France in between nappy-cats and iCarly viewing. Thus ends our Tour de Mammoth.
