UCLA Soccer Camp

Kelly spent the last four days at UCLA with his buddy Taylor at UCLA soccer camp. He loved living in the dorms, eating in the cafeteria, meeting French girls, and playing soccer. He even got to shake hands with Cristiano Ronaldo when Real Madrid was practicing at UCLA for its game against the Galaxy!

Moore League Champions

The Freshman Bruins were crowned Moore League Champions Monday after a stellar 28-1-1 season! These boys can play ball!Of course they had to celebrate the victory by dumping the cooler on Coach Bobby! To reward the freshman Bruins for their amazing season Coach Hall invited the boys to Blair Field where they all got announced on the Big Field before the Varsity game.

Then the boys got to hang out in the dugout and cheer on the Varsity boys to their victory!

Kelly may not have played as much as he would have liked, but he made a lot of great friends, had amazing coaches, and was lucky to be part of such a successful group!

Best Bruin Game So Far!

So basically the Wilson boys win every game they play, so there isn't too much excitement usually. But Friday's game vs. Millikan was a nailbitter! The game was tied 0-0 till the 7th inning when both schools scored a run. The score continued 1-1 thru the 12th inning when the umpire called the game. Jackson had an amazing defensive play and caught a bunt from 3rd base during a squeeze play that would have had Tristan Chamberlin scoring the winning run for Millikan. Kelly got to DH during the game, but obviously from the score there was not much offense for either team. It was so fun to watch a tight game!

Grand Slam!

Kelly got his first grandslam at the Wilson game vs Jordan yesterday. He sent the ball way out to the left field fence with the bases loaded! And he thinks he isn't a good baseball player??

The Pack is Back

Kelly is so excited to be back on the pitch with his fellow cubbies after the hiatus for high school soccer! The boys competed in their first tournament since coming back this weekend and made it to the championship game. Unfortunately calls weren't going their way. Coach Matt got kicked off the field and Wolfpack did not win the championship this time.

Wilson Soccer

Kelly's Wilson JV soccer team ended the season on Friday with a win over Lakewood. The JV boys were 7-3-2 in the Moore League for the season. Kelly scored a few goals along the way and made some new friends.

Now he's ready to move on to baseball and return to the Wolfpack!

Wilson Baseball Care-oke

The coach of the Wilson Freshman Baseball team wanted the boys to do something to give back this holiday season. It was decided that the boys would have a Care-oke night at the Beach Club. Each boy on the team would sing a kareoke song and then roam the crowd with his baseball hat to get donations depending on how good the kareoke performance was.
The evening started with a bang with a performance of "Soul Man" by Stevie and Andrew. The rest of the team followed till it got to Mickey and Kelly who sang "All Star". Then came the big finale. Eric Wilcox the "Squints" of the team. Hasn't hit his growth spurt yet, the size of an 11 year old with thick glasses - but a solid ball player. He jumped out on the floor wearing tights, pink soccer shorts, and a tight Under Amour shirt and he rocked a kareoke cover of "Tik Tok".

The crowd went wild and Eric was showered with money! Eric on his own raised over $250 and the freshman team total was over $1100 for a family who has a child with cancer.
At the end of the evening a few of the Varsity baseball players joined the Freshies for a final song:

Wilson Soccer

Wilson soccer has started and Kelly is on the JV team. He has been super busy with preseason games and traveling around LA and Orange county playing other high schools two to four times during the week and in tournaments on the weekends. I was excited when Wilson finally had a preseason home game to go see the action. I was not so excited when Kelly got yet another red card his first time playing on the Wilson field.
If he gets another red card CIF rules make him ineligible to play soccer in high school, so HOPEFULLY he has learned his lesson!

RED CARD

Unfortunately Kelly tends to be an overly aggressive soccer player as shown in the picture above. Unfortunately he got a red card this weekend and is out the next two games. Unfortunately his team in no longer in first place after this weekend. Unfortunately they play the best team in their bracket this weekend while Kelly is not eligible to play. Needless to say, Kelly did not have a good weekend. Hopefully he can play the ball, not the player in the future.

He's Still A Baller

I haven't posted much about baseball, but rest assured that Kelly's been playing Pony baseball and it has been a LONG season and it has pretty much been the worst team ever. We will just leave it at that. Kelly did hit a homerun this year, even with the larger field and that was probably the highlight of his season. Of course both Kevin and I missed the homerun - but Kelly went yard anyway. Our baller:

Cross Country Champions

Saturday the Rogers 8th Grade boys won the city cross country title. Kelly came in 5th in the city completing the two mile course in 11:54. His buddy Rodrigo came in third with a time of 11:30. Pretty good for two soccer players who did not train at all!
I was excited to get to use the jogger stroller to take our favorite sleepover buddy to the race with us! I sure do miss my days with the jogger stroller.
