Wednesday was tryouts for the Rogers soccer team. There is only one team for all three grades (6th thru 8th) and there are 18 spots on the team. Kelly tried out (of course). He made sure to pass a few people on every sprint and do all the he could to showcase his skills to the coach. (Me and Shelby watched.) Thursday morning he once again packed up his soccer clothes and took them to school. I asked him if they were having tryouts again. He said, "no they are having callbacks and I will get called back." And he did. Thursday evening he came home from callbacks and said he made the team. I was surprised and asked if the coach announced the team at the tryouts. Kelly said no, but he was sure he made the team. Monday the team was posted at school . . . . and he made it! One of three sixth graders to make the team. Congratulations Kelly - you are confident and cocky, but correct.
