The Padres Last Game

Wednesday night Kelly had his last at-bat as a Padre:
And his last time pitching in the Padre uniform:
And his last Padre huddle:
And his last post-game chat:
And the team's last trip to the snack shack:
But hopefully not Kelly's last laughs with his buddy Michael:
The game Wednesday night was not a great finish to the season, but it is the end and that makes me sad. Kelly has had a great career at LBLL, he has had a lot of great coaches, and he has made a lot of great friends. He started off playing third base, because he had a strong arm for a six year old and could make a solid throw to first. He was always an aggressive base runner. When he was in Coach Pitch the base coaches would signal for him to stop, but he always take an extra base. He said he knew the baseman would probably drop the ball, and at that level he was usually right. His final year in Little League he batted first because he was always able to get on base, and with his aggressive base running he would usually make it home.
His strong arm kept him pitching and playing at short-stop. It has been a lot of fun watching him play baseball the last seven years. This year Kelly had a goal to hit three homeruns, and he hit four. I hope he keeps setting goals and reaching them. I am going to miss Little League.
