Last night Kelly hit his first homerun of the 2009 season! Click on the picture and see the smile on Kelly's face. Kevin was so excited to be at the game and see the big event. (When Kelly hit his first homerun as a 10 year old Kevin was not at the game because he was at an AYSO meeting) It was a strong hit and the ball sailed over the fence between left and center field and over the scoreboard. Kelly said he had the Eminem song "Lose Yourself" in his head when he went up to bat. "If you had one shot, one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted, one moment, would you capture it or let it slip." Kelly said he thought just like in the song this was his one shot, and he wasn't going to let it slip. Kelly's coach also told us that he told Kelly before he went up to bat that he thought Kelly was the best athlete in the league and to go out there and show everyone what Coach Jamie already knew. I guess all the encouragement worked! Here is Kelly in the dugout right after the big event:
