Betrayed

Shelby got bit by a dog last night.
Our new neighbors dog, Max who lives across the street.
Shelby really likes Max, and all dogs for that matter.
She pets Max all the time. She thought they were friends.
Yesterday Shelby was walking with Jeanine, Abbey and Chris to their house when she saw Max in his backyard at the fence. She ran from the corner to the gate yelling, "Maxie, Maxie, Maxie!"
Then she put her hand in the gate to pet him and he bit her hand.
She was devasted and hysterical.
She said through her tears "Max is a bad dog" and "I need a tissue."
After her hand was bandaged she wanted to rest on the couch.
She was so tired from the tears and drama that she slept for over three hours.
She seems to be fine today. We will have to see what she thinks about dogs after this.

Josh got bit in the face by a friend's dog when he was little. That dog got put down. Hello? Dogs that bite should not get a second chance.

Sorry Shelby. Hope you feel better soon.

Shelby is the second neighbor Max bit this months so animal control took him away for 10 days of observation yesterday. I feel bad because the neighbor's boys were in tears. It is very strange because Max has never bitten anyone till this month and Shelby has had numerous positive interactions with him. Hopefully it all works out so our new neighbors don't hate us for causing their dog to be put down.

Well, if the observation results in Max going to doggie heaven, it will not be your fault. And if your neighbors blame you, I say hang out with other neighbors.

Poor Shelby! I'm sure she'll bounce back. As for Max... if he does get put down, at least it'll spare future kids from being bitten. Better safe than sorry.
